We are a family-run business based in West Sussex and although we only launched
the company in summer 2002, we have won an impressive 14 awards (including
Gold - for our Mango Chutney in 2004, in 2005 for our
Aubergine and Lemon Pickles and in 2007 'one star' Gold awards for our Pear & Chilli
Chutney and Garlic Pickle)
at the national Great
Taste Awards.
Renowned chef and
restaurateur Marco Pierre White awarded The Spice Shelf the 'best product'
prize at the inaugural Royal Windsor Food and Drink Festival 2006.
The range is the brainchild of Meher Salman, who has been teaching the art
of Indian cuisine in the Sussex area for nearly 20 years.
All our products are hand-made
in small batches rather than mass-produced. The chutneys and pickles are strictly
vegetarian and do not contain any preservatives, artificial additives or colourings.
The ingredients are sourced from the local Sussex area.
